Owls star set for talks
Burnley, 15:59, July 25, 2010 ,
Burnley have finally succeeded with a fourth bid for Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Lee Grant and he will now have talks at Turf Moor.
The Clarets have been persistent in their efforts to sign the 27-year-old, with Wednesday standing firm in response to their opening offers.
The fee agreed for Grant has not been disclosed by either club, although it's thought Burnley's previous bid was around the £750,000 mark.
It's understood the former Derby player is set to meet with his former manager Brian Laws in the next day or so to discuss the offer of a three-year deal.
Wednesday could ill afford to reject a good money offer for the highly-rated in light of Friday's revelation that the League One club owe just over half a million pounds to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs.
Grant's departure should starve off the threat of the winding-up order issued by the taxman but leave manager Alan Irvine without a recognised number one for the start of the new campaign.
Former loanee Nicky Weaver is being strongly linked with a move to Hillsborough as a possible replacement between the sticks should Grant opt to team-up with Laws again.
Weaver, who is also an Owls fan, is a free agent ironically after his release from the Clarets at the end of last season.
