City reject big money duo raid

Cardiff City, 16:21, August 29, 2008

Chairman Peter Ridsdale has confirmed that Cardiff have snubbed big money offers from several clubs for Joe Ledley and Roger Johnson.

Everton, Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion and a mystery club have all approached the Bluebirds with an offer of around £5million for highly-rated midfielder Ledley, while £4million-rated defender Johnson has attracted interest from Hull City, Birmingham City and Ipswich Town.

Ridsdale told the club's official website: "We have had two offers for separate players this week, one for £5m and another at £4m.

"We have discussed the two offers at boardroom level and unanimously turned them down.

"The key factor is that our manager, Dave Jones, wants to keep this squad together and believes we will challenge for promotion.

"The board decision was to back the manager 100 per cent. Our stance on offers for key players remains unchanged. None of them will be sold ... at any price."

Bluebirds boss Jones added: "We have had bids for our players, but we don't have to sell. We are in a position whereby we can turn down the bids.

"We want to keep Joe and he wants to stay. He can play in the Premiership and hopefully he can do this with Cardiff City.

"We have a good squad of players who a lot of them can play in the Premiership. The best way to keep these players is try and get there."
