Winger in loan move

Cardiff have moved to sign Aston Villa winger Wayne Routledge on a two-month loan deal in order to cover for injuries.

Cardiff's squad has been hit hard by injury problems in recent weeks, with Joe Ledley and Peter Whittingham the latest first-team squad members to face extended spells on the sidelines.

Routledge has found his path to the Villa first team blocked, mainly due to the outstanding form of Ashley Young and James Milner, and Martin O'Neill has allowed the 23-year-old to go out on loan.

The former Crystal Palace and Tottenham ace, who joined Villa for £1.25 million in January, is expected to make his debut in the Bluebirds clash at Plymouth on Saturday.
