Carlisle have completed their first summer signing with the capture of experienced central defender Mike Edwards from Notts County.
Edwards, 32, who turned down the offer of a new deal at Meadow Lane, has signed a two-year deal with Carlisle.
Carlisle manager Greg Abbott, looking to further strengthen his squad during the summer break, said: "Mike comes with a vast amount of experience and we think we've got ourselves a great addition to the squad. He has strength and quality and we're really looking forward to working with him.
"We're still working away at adding to the squad and along with the news of the other lads who will be staying on renewed contracts we feel this will be a step in the right direction for us."
Beverley-born Edwards began his career at Hull and played over 200 first-team games before brief spells at Colchester and Grimsby. He spent the last eight seasons at Notts County, where he made over 300 appearances.
Meanwhile, Cumbrians pair Lubo Michalik (centre-half) and Tom Taiwo (midfielder) have both turned down new contract offers from the club.
