Celtic linked with Toon frontman

Celtic have been linked with a move for Newcastle striker Leon Best, who has a year left on his contract with the Toon.

Best appears to be surplus to requirements at Newcastle and reports in the north east claim they are planning to offer him to clubs, including Celtic, as Toon boss Alan Pardew plans to trim his squad. Celtic tried to sign Best in January but the 26-year-old decided to remain with Newcastle to try and fight for his place. However, the frontman failed to break into the starting eleven, with Demba Ba and Papiss Demba Cisse ahead of him in the pecking order, and Best could now be tempted by a move to the SPL, while Celtic are also able to offer Champions League football.
