Celtic star 'flattered' by exit talk
Celtic, 12:14, December 4, 2009 ,
Aiden McGeady says he is 'flattered' to be linked with a move to Birmingham as they prepare a January bid for the Celtic star.
The Republic of Ireland international is reportedly being lined up by Blues boss Alex McLeish, with McGeady admitting it is an ambition of his to play in England or abroad.
However, the 23-year-old insists he is happy to remain with the Bhoys and claims it is the club who will decide his future.
"I am still fairly young. I'm 23 and every player has aspirations to play at the top level and I won't deny that I feel that way too," McGeady told the Daily Record.
"But things are starting to go a bit better here than they were before. I'm happy at Celtic."
"If a team comes in with a bid then I'm still under contract until 2013. Like I say, though, everyone wants to play in England or abroad. I won't deny I have those ambitions.
"However, it's not up to me whether or not I go at the moment.
"Of course, I'm aware of the transfer talk when people are talking about me and I'm very flattered by it but I don't take too much notice.
"If a bid comes in and the club accepts it then that is not down to me."
The Blues have a transfer-fund somewhere in the region of £40million following the takeover by Hong Kong-based businessman Carson Yeung, with McGeady thought to be valued at around £5million by his current employers.
