Celtic's defender move rejected

Newcastle United have turned down a loan bid from SPL giants Celtic for transfer listed defender Steven Taylor.
Taylor has been placed on the transfer list by the St James' Park side after talks over a new contract stalled.
Celtic are believed to have made a loan move for the 24-year-old but Newcastle have rejected their advances.
The centre-half has just a year remaining on his current deal and it is thought Newcastle will only entertain bids to take the player outright, as they would receive no fee if the player leaves at the end of the season.
Taylor himself has stated he is happy to continue contract negotiations with Newcastle, he is currently ruled out with a shoulder injury that is expected to keep him out until November.
