Defender deal no-go

Celtic, 14:54, December 3, 2009 ,

Celtic have turned down the chance to sign Honduras defender Osman Chavez, following a recent trial at Parkhead.

The 25-year-old spent a recent stint training with the Hoops in the hope of earning a permanent contract, but Tony Mowbray has decided against keeping the defender.
Chevez's current club, Platense, were reportedly seeking £1.5million for the player but Celtic have chosen not to pursue their interest any further.
Mowbray said: "We are not going to take Osman. He is going to be leaving us.
"He did exceptionally well for us. But I have made the decision that he is not quite right for us and we will wait and try to find extra competition for places in that area."
