Defender in Mowbray's sights

Celtic, 13:12, December 1, 2009 ,

Hearts defender Jose Goncalves is reportedly a January transfer window target of Celtic boss Tony Mowbray.

Goncalves is coming to the end of his contract at Tynecastle and has so far failed to agree a new deal with the club, so he would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement elsewhere on January 1.
The 24-year-old has been a key player for Hearts so far this season, scoring two goals in 14 appearances, and boss Csaba Laszlo does not want to lose him but the lure of Parkhead may prove too difficult to resist.
There are other players said to be interesting Mowbray with the transfer window set to open in a month and the likes of Tours striker Olivier Giroud and several Ujpest Dozsa players will hope to impress on trial.
Ujpest are managed by former Celtic reserve team coach Willie McStay and he is reportedly ready to offer Matyas Magos, Daniel Kovacs, Simon Krisztian and defender Zsolt Korcsmar trials at the club over the next month or so.
