Fee could scupper Hibs' swoop
Celtic, 13:41, August 28, 2008 ,
Hibs looks set to miss out on Celtic striker Derek Riordan after the player's agent indicated he is likely to remain at Celtic Park.
The 25-year-old is a loan target for Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen, as well as League One side Leeds United, and although he wants to leave Glasgow, a move is still in doubt.
The SPL champions are keen to recoup a fee for the Scotland international and are currently resisting any loan deals, with agent Jim McArthur saying he expects Riordan to stay at Celtic.
McArthur told the Evening News: "Unfortunately for Derek, it looks like he will be at Celtic beyond the transfer window as the club are not receptive to loan deals and that's all that's been offered at the moment."
