Lennon happy with Maloney display

Neil Lennon paid tribute to Shaun Maloney who won the penalty that gave Celtic all three points against Motherwell on Sunday.

The 27-year-old put in a superb all-round display and was a constant threat to the 'Well rearguard, forcing an excellent save from Darren Randolph and also hitting the side-netting in the first period.
Despite their dominance, the Bhoys could not find a way through until the 73rd minute, when Maloney went down under a challenge from Steven Saunders, which earned the Motherwell star a red card.
Daryl Murphy made no mistake from the spot, keeping Celtic on top of the SPL on goal difference, with Rangers also maintaining a 100 per cent record after three games.
Lennon singled out Maloney for special praise after the victory but felt his team as a whole had done themselves proud.
"I thought Maloney was fantastic once he went through the middle," he told ESPN. "We were pretty resolute at the back, the midfield were strong and athletic and the three front men did great.
"I'm really pleased with the performance and I thought we controlled the game for long periods."
