Money will talk over departures - Mowbray
Celtic, 16:22, December 11, 2009 ,
Celtic boss Tony Mowbray has revealed he is prepared to let some of his players go in the transfer window, if the money is right.
Although refusing to name names, Mowbray admitted that a number of players have asked to move on due to a lack of first team activity and it is something the boss is prepared to sanction, providing that the terms are right for the club.
"If it is not hurting our football club, I'll allow that to happen if the funds are right," he said.
"Players want to play on a Saturday. If they are not playing, there is a frustration."
Mowbray has also revealed he remains unconcerned over Gary Caldwell's failure to commit his future to the club and his possible departure in January.
"It's something that doesn't cross my mind really. What will be will be, in Gary's situation. He will either sign a pre-contract somewhere or he won't," said Mowbray.
"He's a very strong personality. If I had any doubts that he couldn't perform, he wouldn't play, but he is strong enough mentally to continue.
"We'd need to weigh up what the cost would be of taking so much in for Gary Caldwell in January, or having him continue at a high level for us until the end of the season and hopefully winning the title.
"Let's wait and see what develops."
