Werder Bremen have moved quickly to play down reports linking them with a swoop for Celtic midfielder Ki Sung-yueng.

The German outfit have been mooted as potential suitors for the highly-rated 23-year-old South Korea international after the player's agent claimed they were embroiled in a battle with fellow Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen for his signature. And, while Hoops chief Neil Lennon will look to resist any offers for one of his influential players, Bremen's general manager Klaus Allofs admitted that they are 'aware' of Ki's qualities, but denied a bid was forthcoming. "We are definitely aware of Ki Sung-yueng, he certainly is a very good player," Allofs told kicker-Sportmagazin. "However, at this point in time, he is a non-issue and is pretty much off the agenda for our club." Russian side Rubin Kazan have already been linked with a swoop for Ki, who has confirmed that he would be happy to stay put with the Scottish champions.
