Neil Lennon has being linked with a swoop to sign Norwich City striker James Vaughan on loan for Celtic in this transfer window.

The Hoops chief is looking to bolster his options before the transfer window closes as he looks to ensure they retain their Scottish Premier League title this coming season and also progress beyond the qualifying rounds of the Champions League and into the lucrative group stages. And 24-year-old Vaughan, who snubbed the Glasgow giants to link up with former Norwich boss Paul Lambert when he left Everton last summer, is a reported season-long loan target. Vaughan endured a nightmare debut campaign at Carrow Road due to long-term knee problems, but he is looking fit and sharp during this pre-season with new Canaries chief Chris Hughton impressed by what he has seen. Lennon will guarantee Vaughan plenty of first-team football at Celtic Park if he is allowed to move north of the border. But there is every possibility that Hughton will reward Vaughan for his good pre-season form and elect to pick him in the starting XI when the new season gets underway at Fulham on August 18. If Vaughan is given a clear indication that he can usurp the likes of Steve Morison or Grant Holt from the Norwich team and enjoy regular Premier League action, he is unlikely to want to make the move to Celtic.
