Lee Clark has warned his Birmingham side "to be right at it from the first whistle" in Saturday's Championship opener against Charlton.

Clark began his Blues managerial reign with a satisfying 5-1 victory over League Two Barnet in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday. Despite the comprehensive nature of the win, Clark conceded Birmingham will face a different kind of challenge against the newly-promoted Addicks at St Andrew's. "It's going to be completely different Saturday. We know we've got to be right at it from the first whistle," he said. "Charlton will be coming at us. Chris Powell has done a magnificent job there and they're going to enjoy it, which a lot of clubs will. "We want to make this place a fortress, we want to make it tough for teams to come and play at St Andrew's and we can certainly can do that."
