Blackpool defender Ian Evatt hopes to make amends for last year's relegation by securing an instant return to the Premier League.
The Seasiders were many football fans' favourites in the top flight but the underdogs could not avoid the drop, suffering relegation on the final day of the season when they were beaten 4-2 by Manchester United, despite taking the lead. Evatt said: "I think we see it as a failure on our part. We feel like we should have stayed up in that league. We played well enough to stay up. "We were in a great position at Christmas. We were 2-0 up a lot of games - Bolton away, Blackburn away - that we just chucked away through our own naivety really, not from bad playing." Evatt scored a heart-breaking own goal at Old Trafford and now wants to put that behind him by helping his side reach England's top tier again. Ian Holloway's side host Birmingham this evening as they fight for the right to play either West Ham or Cardiff in the play-off final at Wembley on May 19.
