Hornets reject Reading bid
Watford have rejected a £2million bid from Premier League new-boys Reading for defender Adrian Mariappa.
After reports last week that Royals boss Brian McDermott was a big admirer of the 25-year-old defender, his club put in a bid that the Vicarage Road outfit turned down.
Mariappa, who was the club's player of the year last season, is rated as one of the best defenders outside the Premier League and has been linked with both Newcastle and Wigan in the past.
The Hornets are keen to keep hold of the player, although they might find it hard to reject an improved offer from Reading if they decide to come back in with another bid.
