Blackpool have revealed that Craig Cathcart will miss Friday's play-off semi-final first leg with Birmingham due to a heart condition.

The Northern Irishman complained of chest pains last month and decided to get the problem checked out after previously seeing Bolton's Fabrice Muamba suffer a cardiac arrest. Tests showed that he had an enlarged heart and he immediately underwent treatment. However, boss Ian Holloway says he is fine to continue playing and that he is only missing Friday's game as a precaution after having another palpitation on Tuesday. "The good news is that everyone is very vigilant after what happened to Muamba," said Holloway. "Craig came to Phil, our physio, and said he was getting these funny feelings. "He has a slightly enlarged heart and the specialist doesn't feel that's a problem but because he had another palpitation on Tuesday morning, he told us not to play him on Friday night."
