Leeds United manager Neil Warnock admits he never thought the club would sign Lee Peltier and says he is delighted with the signing.
Right-back Peltier, 25, became Leeds' tenth signing of the summer yesterday after completing his £500,000 switch from Leicester and Warnock has now revealed he thought the player would be out of his price range. "I am delighted; I didn't think we would be able to afford him if I am being honest at the start of the summer," he told Yorkshire Radio. "When it became clear that we could have a go for him, I was pleased with how we progressed. It may have taken a little bit longer than we thought but that is what happens with negotiations. It was great to complete it. He is good strong exciting player." The Elland Road boss also said there would be some players leaving the club in the coming week. "There are probably a few lads going out, which we are working on," he said. "Billy (Paynter) is going Monday and we have had a few enquiries about other players. We haven't got many more to move on now,"
