Midfielder leaves the Valley

Charlton Athletic, 14:19, November 11, 2008 ,

Charlton midfielder Darren Ambrose has left the Valley to re-join Championship rivals Ipswich on a two-month loan deal.

The 24-year-old left Portman Road in 2003 to join Newcastle before signing for the Addicks in £1.5million deal, but will now head back to East Anglia until January 2.
Despite the Addicks recently claiming that Ambrose, who has made over 100 appearances for the club, would not be leaving, it appears Charlton have found it hard to turn down the deal.
Alan Pardew said Ambrose had to make way for potential loan signings at the club, and told the club's official website: "Someone had to be sacrificed to give us the financial room to bring one or two in, and Darren was the option I've taken."
