Pardew job safe, says Chappell
Charlton Athletic, 14:28, October 2, 2008 ,
Under-fire Charlton manager Alan Pardew has been told his job at The Valley is safe by chairman Derek Chappell.
The Premier League hopefuls lost more ground in the race for the top flight when they fell to a 1-0 defeat against rivals Crystal Palace on Tuesday and have won just once in their last six games.
Reports had suggested that Pardew, who took over at Charlton in December 2006, could be in the firing line, but Chappell has insisted he still has the complete backing of the board.
"Not once have the board considered reviewing Alan Pardew's position and understand the financial constraints he has been asked to work with," he told Kent Online.
"So there is no truth in the rumours that his job is under threat. Alan Pardew is our manager and he will be for a long time to come."
