Parkinson wants more of the same
Charlton Athletic, 15:35, November 26, 2008 ,
Charlton caretaker boss Phil Parkinson insists the Addicks will get out of trouble if they continue to play like they did against QPR.
Parkinson took charge of Charlton following Alan Pardew's exit over the weekend and he was pleased with the performance despite watching his side slip to a narrow 2-1 defeat at Loftus Road.
Dexter Blackstock's double gave Rangers the win but Parkinson says he couldn't have asked for any more from the players.
"Obviously I'm disappointed with the result, but in terms of the performance we asked the lads for a reaction and they gave it," he said afterwards.
"I think sometimes when you are down the bottom, things don't go for you. I said to the lads all of the qualities they showed tonight would normally result in a draw or even three points.
"I think it is important everybody concentrates on what we need to do to get a win rather than being anxious for that win.
"That is what we stressed to the lads over the last couple of days and everything we said to them, they did."
Parkinson added: "I'm so disappointed for the players because despite all that has gone on they are as honest a group of lads as I've worked with in my whole time in football, both as a player and a coach and manager.
"They are hurting but I said to them when they come in on Thursday, I want to see them walk in the door with their heads held high ready for the next challenge. If they keep playing like they did tonight the results will come."
