Anelka wants Drogba
Nicolas Anelka says he will try and lure Didier Drogba to China after being appointed to the coaching staff at Shanghai Shenhua.
Exactly what position Anelka will hold remains unclear after boss Jean Tigana denied that he was leaving the club but the former Chelsea star believes he will now have the authority to bring players to the club. Drogba, who is out of contract in the summer, has long been linked with a move to Shanghai and Anelka has said in the past that the Ivorian wants to link up with him in China. Anelka also wants his former Paris St Germain team-mate Selim Benachour and hopes the club have the resources to sign both players for next season. "I hope Selim Benachour and Didier Drogba will quickly join us," Anelka told Le Journal du Dimanche. "I hope they come. It is up to the club to see if we have the right means." Meanwhile, Drogba picked up a hamstring niggle in the victory over Tottenham on Sunday and will be assessed before Wednesday night's Champions League encounter with Barcelona.
