Benfica ace linked

Chelsea, 11:11, January 18, 2011 , | 5 Comments

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is ready to up his offer for Benfica defender David Luiz to a whopping £22m, according to reports.

The Portuguese club have so far resisted all offers from the champions, one a straight cash bid of £16.5m and one which apparently included Paulo Ferreira as part of a swap deal, as they look for their full valuation of the player.
Chelsea are now said to be ready and willing to up their offer to £22m to ensure they land him before the window shuts in two weeks time and, after Benfica signed a replacement in Jardel, it is now looking likely they are preparing to accept Chelsea's increased offer.
Meanwhile, Italian outfit Udinese have said the do not want to sell another Blues target, winger Alexis Sanchez, during the current transfer window.
