Chelsea are believed to be lining up a mega £48m new year swoop for Atletico Madrid hotshot Radamel Falcao.

The Colombian international is one of the most talked about strikers in world football and he has been regularly linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge in recent months.
However, reports are now suggesting that the Blues are ready to firm up their interest with a big money bid when the transfer window reopens in January.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to activate a release clause in the forward's contract to bring him to England for the second half of the season in the face of a rival offer from Manchester City.
The 26-year-old is even rumoured to have already agreed personal terms with the Blues as manager Roberto Di Matteo looks to add extra firepower to his squad to boost their hopes of retaining the Champions League and staying on top of the table in the Premier League.
Falcao, who has already scored 12 goals in eight appearances for Atletico this season, joined the Spanish side from Porto in 2011 for £34.7m and his arrival in London would surely place a question mark over Fernando Torres' long-term future with the club.
