Blues release statement

Chelsea, 17:30, September 3, 2009 ,

Chelsea say they will mount the "strongest appeal possible" after they were banned from signing players by FIFA.

Chelsea have issued a statement in response to the sanctions being placed on the club by football's governing body in relation to the signing of Gael Kakuta.
A club statement read: "Chelsea will mount the strongest appeal possible following the decision of FIFA's Dispute Resolution Chamber over Gael Kakuta.
"The sanctions are without precedent to this level and totally disproportionate to the alleged offence and the financial penalty imposed.
"We cannot comment further until we receive the full written rationale for this extraordinarily arbitrary decision."
Chelsea can go to Court of Arbitration for Sport and appeal the decision and appear set to do exactly that following the release of the statement.
