Blues set for major Terry boost

Chelsea, 08:39, July 23, 2009 ,

John Terry is set to confirm that he will remain at Chelsea and snub Manchester City by the end of the week, according to reports.

The Blues and England skipper has been heavily linked with a move to big-spending City for several weeks following a £30million offer from Eastlands boss Mark Hughes. However Terry is expected to remain at Stamford Bridge, where he will pen a new and improved contract.
City were reportedly set to offer Terry double his current £135,000-a-week wages and increase their bid to £40m in an effort to snare the star defender. But it looks like Terry will stay loyal to the Blues, where he has spent his entire career, and stay put as the the club start a new era under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti.
Meanwhile striker Didier Drogba claims Terry has already told the Chelsea squad that he will be staying at the club this summer.
"He's our captain and we need him, and we know he's going to stay with us and win more trophies," said Drogba.
