Blues set to seal Benfica deal
Chelsea, 14:41, July 22, 2010 ,
Chelsea are believed to be closing in on Brazilian World Cup star Ramires with reports suggesting they have offered Benfica £20m.
The Daily Mail claim an agreement for the midfielder could be just days away as the Blues looks to strengthen their squad following the departure of Michael Ballack and Joe Cole this summer.
Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti is also expected to let Deco move on before the big kick-off next month, so it's highly likely that more new faces will arrive at Stamford Bridge before then.
Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are rumoured to be interested in Ramires as well but it's understood Benfica have only received one concrete offer and that was from Chelsea and the player himself is excited about the chance of a move.
The 23-year-old said: "It would be a dream for me to play for a big club such as Barcelona, Real Madrid or Chelsea."
Ramires caught the eye when he embarked on an impressive run before setting up Robinho to score in Brazil's 3-0 victory over Chile during World Cup 2010.
Meanwhile, Brazilian side Santos have told the Blues their £17m bid for wonderkid Neymar is not enough. They value the 18-year-old at around £30m.
