Chelsea have wrapped up the signing of right-back Cesar Azpilicueta from Marseille for an undisclosed fee according to the French club.

The Spaniard has been drafted in by Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo to strengthen the team's defensive options in the full-back position following the departure of Jose Bosingwa in the summer. Azpilicueta is the fifth new faces to arrive at Stamford Bridge since the end of last season following Di Matteo's previous moves for Eden Hazard, Oscar, Marko Marin and Thorgan Hazard. The Blues are understood to have paid in the region of £7m for the 22-year-old's services and he will now face it out with Branislav Ivanovic for a first-team shirt with reigning Champions League holders. Azpilicueta, who recently competed for his country at the Olympics, has spent the last two years playing for Marseille in Ligue 1, and despite his relatively tender age, he has plenty of experience after making over 100 appearances for Spanish side Osasuna prior to his switch to France.
