Blues sweat on midfielder fitness

Chelsea, 15:24, January 28, 2011

Carlo Ancelotti will wait as long as possible for Frank Lampard to prove his fitness for Chelsea's FA Cup clash at Everton on Saturday.

The Blues boss is hoping that the veteran England international midfielder can recover from the calf injury which ruled him out of Monday night's 4-0 Premier League romp at Bolton Wanderers.
Ancelotti's main dilemma will be whether to start Lampard or put him on the substitutes' bench should he pass a fitness test on the problem ahead of the 12.30pm kick-off at Goodison Park.
The Italian tactician is likely to name a strong side for a repeat of the 2009 FA Cup final against the Toffees, although Alex, Yury Zhirkov and Yossi Benayoun remain sidelined with respective knee, calf and Achilles injuries.
Gael Kakuta and Patrick van Aanholt are also unavailable for selection after they both left Stamford Bridge on loan deals.
Skipper John Terry is looking forward to the fourth-round tie on Merseyside and warned his team-mates to expect a difficult afternoon.
He said: "Everton are in and out of form but, against the big sides, especially at home, they do tend to raise it so it is going to be a big test for us."
