Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard will miss Sunday's Premier League clash with Manchester United after being ruled out for a fortnight.
The veteran Blues star was forced to come off after just 15 minutes of his team's Champions League defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night due to a calf problem he has been struggling with for weeks. Lampard's injury first flared up on international duty with England before their recent World Cup qualifying double header against San Marino and Poland, and as a result he played no part in either game. Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo is refusing to put an exact timescale on the 34-year-old's recovery period as he is wary of rushing him back too soon and doing further damage, despite the prospect of some key fixture on the horizon. Di Matteo said ahead of the clash with United this weekend: "He is going to be out for a few weeks. He's got a calf problem, so we will miss him and it's a big loss for us. He added: "Apart from Frank, everybody else is fit. Marko Marin might be in the squad for Sunday."
