Roberto Di Matteo admits Chelsea will have to tighten up if they are to challenge for the title following the 4-2 win over Reading.
Chelsea now have a side packed with flair following the additions of Eden Hazard and Oscar but Di Matteo realises they cannot leak goals if they are to battle it out with Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal this season.
Frank Lampard had given Chelsea the lead but Reading came fighting back and went in front thanks to goals from Pavel Pogrebnyak and Danny Guthrie.
Goals from Gary Cahill, Fernando Torres and Branislav Ivanovic eventually wrapped up the win but Di Matteo was concerned with the way his side conceded the goals.
"We'll have to try to be more solid," he revealed. "That's how you win more games. We'll certainly look at that. Everyone wants to see a lot of flair play but to win games you need a good balance to it. That's going to be the challenge."
Meanwhile Di Matteo also had more praise for Hazard, who put in another fine display in midfield.
"He has made had an impact ? I think him and Juan Mata linked up very well," he added. "He's finding his feet very quickly, so that is pleasing for us."
