Carlo issues striker pledge

Chelsea, 17:08, January 26, 2010 ,

Carlo Ancelotti says Chelsea will do everything possible to keep Nicolas Anelka and he is confident the striker will stay.

Anelka is due to fall out of contract in 18 months and rumours have been doing the rounds suggesting he could leave Stamford Bridge after negotiations broke down for the fourth time.
The Frenchman reportedly wants his weekly wage increasing from £80,000 a week to £120,000 and Chelsea officials are reluctant to go that high as they look to keep the wage bill under control.
It means Anelka could decide to move on a free transfer when his contract expires but Ancelotti believes this will not happen.
"I think the club are speaking with his agent and they will find a right solution," he revealed. "I am confident about this. Anelka is a top player and this club need to have a lot of top players. We want to keep him and he wants to stay.
"This is a wedding and we don't want to break up."
