City still tracking Chelsea

Chelsea, 11:16, July 5, 2009 ,

Manchester City are understood to be preparing a third bid of £45m for Chelsea and England captain John Terry.

Eastlands chief Mark Hughes this week saw an approach turned down by the Stamford Bridge outfit but does not appear to be ready to take no for an answer as he eyes a sensational raid on his former club.
Terry is under contract until 2012 and is a real talisman for his side so owner Roman Abramovich is unlikely to sell unless a written transfer request is slapped in by the 28-year-old.
And scuppering the deal could also be a matter of personal pride for Abramovich whose fortune is dwarfed by that of Sheikh Mansour, his counterpart at City.
Terry is said to earn £140,000 a week at Chelsea and City are tipped to offer him the chance to double it as new boss Carlo Ancelotti is faced with the first problem of his tenure.
