Cole linked with rivals

Manchester United could enter the race for Chelsea defender Ashley Cole, should the player leave Stamford Bridge.

Speculation over the player's future continues to rumble on and Paris St Germain are known to be keen on doing a deal if a new contract cannot be agreed with the Blues. Cole has less than 12 months to run on his current deal but Chelsea are still in the box seat as it is thought the player is keen to stay as long as the length of contract suits him. However Manchester United are now said to be watching developments and could enter the running should Cole become available. An ESPN insider has been quoted as saying: "Manchester United cannot be discounted from the equation, there are plenty of interested clubs, and Manchester United might well be one of them."
