Barnsley boss Keith Hill says Chelsea have not been in touch over a proposed move for talented young defender John Stones.
The Blues have been heavily linked with the 18-year-old and some reports have suggested a big-money move could be on the cards when the transfer window re-opens.
However Hill has played down the rumours and says Chelsea have not made contact, while the Tykes boss also thinks it would not be a good move for him at this time anyway as he believes the player should continue his development at Oakwell.
"There probably are rumours but to me it wouldn't be to his benefit because is he really going to play there?" Hill told Radio Sheffield. "It would be the wrong move for him at this time. We've had no contact from them at the moment.
"It's in his best interests to stay here and continue his development. He is a player who can go all the way because he's grounded, he's got good football intelligence and he wants to improve."
