Roberto Di Matteo is still in the dark over his future at Chelsea but is not interested in a one-year deal.

Reports are growing that Chelsea officials are trying to convince Pep Guardiola to take over at Stamford Bridge and that Di Matteo is not the number one choice for Roman Abramovich despite winning the FA Cup and Champions League. Chelsea are keen to make a decision before the players return for pre-season at the start of July but Di Matteo's assistant Eddie Newton says they are no nearer to knowing if they will be kept on. "Nothing has changed," Newton told the Mail on Sunday. "The situation is that we're contracted to the end of the season, June 30. We're still digesting what we've done. But nobody at the club is telling us anything. "We all want what's best for Chelsea but we have absolutely no idea what the club thinks that is." There has been talk of Di Matteo being offered a one-year deal but the Italian wants more security and also feels he no longer needs to prove himself. Aston Villa are waiting in the wings should he not be offered the Chelsea job.
