Roberto Di Matteo is set to be named as Chelsea's new boss after being offered a two-year deal by Roman Abramovich.

The Italian worked wonders when taking over from Andre Villas-Boas and, despite winning both the Champions League and FA Cup, he has been kept waiting by Abramovich. The Blues billionaire owner was keen to weigh up all options before making a decision and both Pep Guardiola and Fabio Capello were in the frame to take charge at Stamford Bridge. However Abramovich has now decided that Di Matteo deserves the job on a permanent basis and he could put pen-to-paper as early as Wednesday when his agent jets into London to finalise the deal. Reports had claimed that Di Matteo may only be offered a one-year deal, something he would have rejected, but now it looks as though he will be handed two years and a chance to take Chelsea into the future. Some bookies have stopped taking bets on Di Matteo being appointed and he now looks nailed on to get the job full time.
