Chelsea are ready to make Didier Drogba one final offer in the hope he will decide to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Drogba is due to fall out of contract at Stamford Bridge after reportedly rejecting a one-year deal worth £100,000 a week and a more lucrative move to China could be on the cards. However Chelsea are keen for him to stay and will make an improved offer, although Roman Abramovich will only go so far and will not be held to ransom. The 34-year-old also has to decide whether he has another season in him at the highest level or whether he would be best off having one final pay day with a move to China, where he could earn £20million in two years. "Everyone is keen to keep Didier but the owner won't be held to ransom," a source close to the club has been quoted as saying in the Sun. "He has to be realistic with his demands if he wants to continue playing at the highest level." Chelsea will still move for another striker whatever happens with Napoli striker Edinson Cavani now the top target after Real Madrid insisted Gonzalo Higuain was not for sale.
