Chelsea look set to cash in on Michael Essien as reports claim Turkish giants Fenerbahce are ready to offer £10million.
The Ghana international had a troubled time on the injury front last season and boss Roberto Di Matteo will be happy to let him move on before Friday's transfer deadline. Essien still has three years to run on his current deal at Stamford Bridge but with first-team opportunities looking hard to come by next season a move will be best for both club and player. Fenerbahce need to replace Emre, who has left for Atletico Madrid, and see Essien as the perfect player to help them maintain their position in the Champions League places. £10million would be enough to secure a deal and Di Matteo may use that money to sign a replacement with Newcastle Cheick Tiote thought to be on his wanted list.
