John Terry has signed a new five-year deal with Chelsea making him the club's highest paid player on a rumoured £160,000-a-week.
The 28-year-old has effectively committed the rest of his career to Chelsea by signing on until the end of the 2013-14 season - when he will be 34. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has sanctioned the pay rise because of Manchester City's attempts to lure the England skipper to Eastlands with an annual salary of £10m. Terry's loyalty to the Blues has been rewarded with the new deal which will pay him an extra £30,000 every week - £41m in total over the contract. That puts him above £150,000-a-week Frank Lampard as the club's highest earner and on a par with £8million-a-year City striker Robinho.
