Lampard wins fitness race

Chelsea, 13:47, May 29, 2009 ,

Frank Lampard has recovered from his knee problem and is raring to go in Saturday's FA Cup final against Everton.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who has bagged 19 goals in all competitions this season, had been struggling earlier in the week with the complaint, but has now returned to full training, providing Chelsea with a timely tonic as they prepare to face the Toffees.
"Yes, I am fit. I have just had a bit of a niggle with my knee but I feel fit and ready to go," the England international said.
That is good news for punters looking to use their £10 free bet on a Chelsea victory as he is a key figure in the line-up, although he is expecting a tough game against David Moyes' men.
"I think it is always hard to call cup finals. Everton are a very disciplined team and work hard to stop you playing," Lampard added.
"We will try and play our usual football, we have been playing very well lately. But who knows how the game is going to pan out?"
Guus Hiddink's men are favourites to lift the trophy but both matches in the league between these two ended goalless, the most recent coming at the end of April at Stamford Bridge, although Everton do have injury worries.
Mikel Arteta, Yakubu and Phil Jagielka are definitely out, while Phil Neville and Steven Pienaar both face late fitness tests on hamstring problems picked up last weekend against Fulham, which may mean teenager Jack Rodwell lines up in midfield.
