Luiz bid rejected
Chelsea are reported to have rejected a £30million bid from Manchester City for Brazilian defender David Luiz.
City boss Roberto Mancini is looking for defensive cover before the transfer window closes and is ready to turn to Luiz after failing in an attempt to lure Daniel Agger from Liverpool. However Chelsea have no intention of losing a key defender so close to the deadline and have rejected the offer. It remains to be seen if City will come back with an improved offer but even if they do it is likely to be knocked back. Meanwhile, Luiz has found himself in hot water with Roberto Di Matteo after revealing on Twitter that he would miss last night's victory over Reading with a knee injury. "This social media thing is all around us now. We'll deal with it internally," Di Matteo revealed. Despite the fall out, Luiz is a huge part of the Italian's plans and will not be sold for any fee before August 31st.
