Porto defender linked

Chelsea could reignite their interest in wing-back Alvaro Pereira, who has been made available by Porto for £15million.

The Blues have been heavily linked with the Uruguayan and failed to prise him away from the Portuguese club last summer after they baulked at the £30million valuation.
However reports now claim he is available for half of that figure as Porto look to offload so they will be able to keep another Chelsea target, Hulk, at the club.
Pereira's versatility appeals to Roberto Di Matteo as he can play at left and right-back as well as further forward in midfield. The Blues boss is struggling to agree a fee with Marseille for Cesar Azpilicueta, even though Gael Kakuta may now be thrown into the deal, and Pereira could be an alternative.
Doubts also surround the future of Ashley Cole, who is going into the final year of his contract, so the fact Pereira can also play down that flank is an added bonus.
