Scolari sack odds shorten

Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is surprisingly now among the favourites to be the next Premier League boss to be sacked.

There have been rumblings of player discontent for several weeks now at Stamford Bridge and this, coupled with the Blues' poor home form, has seemingly increased the likely hood Scolari could be axed less than a year in charge.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic is believed to be less than impressed with the job the Brazilian has done so far as, after an initial good start, the club's expected title bid has stuttered and they only just scraped into the next stage of the Champions League before Christmas.

Saturday's 1-1 home draw against minnows Southend United in the FA Cup third round has apparently cranked the pressure on Scolari up even further with serious doubts now emerging that he's capable of getting the best out of Chelsea's multi-national and hugely talented squad.

The market for the next top-flight manager to leave their current club is always an interesting one with struggling Manchester City chief Mark Hughes and Portsmouth's Tony Adams also near the top of the list.
