Liverpool want to sign Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge on loan with a view to a £15million permanent deal, reports have claimed.

Chelsea are ready to let the player move on and yesterday there were suggestions a swap deal could be on the cards with Arsenal that would see Theo Walcott move to Stamford Bridge. However Liverpool are ready to step up their interest in the striker but want to take him on loan in January before signing him permanently in the summer if all goes well. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate to sign at least one striker when the transfer window re-opens and will make his move for Sturridge after failing to land him in the summer. Chelsea could be interested in such a deal but they would rather sell on a permanent basis and with Arsenal and Tottenham sniffing around Liverpool could miss out unless they stump up the cash in January.
