John Terry has called on Roberto Di Matteo to get the job on a permanent basis after guiding Chelsea to Champions League glory.
The interim boss completed a miraculous turnaround after taking over from Andre Villas-Boas as Chelsea defeated Bayern Munich 4-3 on penalties to win Europe's elite competition.
The Champions League is what Blues owner Roman Abramovich has craved since taking over the club and Di Matteo has succeeded where all the others, including Jose Mourinho, have failed.
The Italian has also won the FA Cup since taking charge and now Blues skipper Terry says it is only right that Di Matteo is handed the job full time.
"Robbie has been fantastic since he came in," Terry revealed. "You look at that trophy. That's certainly what we've been waiting for, what the owner's been waiting for, what the owner was in tears for.
"He's strived for this, he's pumped an awful lot of money into this football club trying to achieve that. Tonight we've done that and Robbie deserves a lot of credit for that.
"We hope he gets the job permanently. He's been fantastic. To win the FA Cup and the Champions League... he can't do more than that."
As for the man himself, Di Matteo says he will enjoy the moment and celebrations and will think about his future when the dust has settled.
"I'm enjoying this moment and I'd just like to go out and celebrate with the players," Di Matteo revealed. "I won't talk about it now. I just want to enjoy the moment."
