Chesterfield owner Dave Allen insists John Sheridan's position as manager is safe even if the club are relegated this season.

Sheridan led the Spireites to the League Two title last season and victory in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final against Swindon on Sunday. However, the Blues have struggled to adapt to a higher level this season and are currently bottom of League One. "I'm not for sacking managers, there's lots of teams that have sacked their managers and have not done any better," Allen told BBC Radio Sheffield. "I'm a great believer in business that if you've got the right man back him. "John's a good manager and a great coach, we've had a bit of a hiccup this year but he's a sensible guy. "Let's hope this victory gives us some impetus and we can start getting a few wins and get out of it."
