Chesterfield assistant manager Tommy Wright hailed it "a perfect day" as his side gave themselves an npower League One lifeline with a 2-1 win at Hartlepool.
Two second-half strikes from impressive substitute Danny Whitaker and striker Jordan Bowery turned a one-goal deficit at Hartlepool into a victory, when defeat would have relegated them. Wright said: "A perfect day for us. We were poor first half and lacked energy and didn't get the ball moving. Second half we did the right things and the catalyst for us was Danny Whitaker. He came on and changed the game. "He's a talented player and has had a tough time like most of us, but he took his goal very well and changed the game. He got on the ball, passed it to a team-mate and did the simple things. "Danny passed his shot into the net, sidefoot, never panicked like good players do. "That got us back into it and we were the better team second half. Hartlepool were sharp first half, but we got a lot better and fully deserved the win."
