Martin Rowlands is set to miss Colchester's trip to Walsall.
The experienced midfielder returned at the weekend having missed the last three matches with a groin injury, but duly suffered a recurrence of the problem and was forced off just minutes after putting the U's one-nil ahead against Carlisle with a superb goal.
Carlisle levelled to ensure Colchester had to settle for a share of the spoils but a fifth successive draw, which extends their unbeaten run to nine games, still leaves the Essex club within six points of the play-offs.
Andy Bond will come back in for Rowlands having replaced him during his initial spell on the sidelines but manager John Ward is not expected to have any other concerns.
Gavin Massey replaced Kayode Odejayi in attack on Saturday and Ward must decide who to go with at the Banks's Stadium, with loanee Freddie Sears also pressing his claims for a start.
